October 18, 2011 - The Senate Transportation Committee approved two bills sponsored by Chairman John Rafferty (R-Montgomery) that would crack down on drunk driving and set new standards for the use of ignition interlock programs.

July 27, 2011 - Sen. Rafferty addressed the crowd on hand as the Second Alarmers Rescue Squad in Whitpain received a steel beam from the World Trade Center. The 12.5-foot, 3,105-pound steel beam will become the centerpiece of a 9/11 memorial that will be built in conjunction with Second Alarmers' future station in the Whitpain Township municipal complex. The event was created to offer area residents a resource for meeting with groups, companies and individuals that share in their desire to conserve, preserve, and improve the environment.
