FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Senate Transportation Chair to Tour Port of Erie, GE Facility Wednesday and Thursday Senate Transportation Committee Chairman John Rafferty (R-Montgomery) will visit the Port of Erie at 3 p.m. Wednesday, August 16, to learn more about the facility and speak with workers and employers there. At 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 17, he will tour the GE Facility at 2901 E. Lake Road in Erie. The plant, which builds locomotives, is one of the area's largest employers. "Because of its unique location, Erie is a crucial transportation hub in Pennsylvania and one that contributes greatly to our state's economy," Rafferty said. "As we look for ways to improve our transportation systems and find ways to more effectively our roads, bridges, airports and ports, it's important to have an understanding of our resources, the challenges the face, and the role they play in Pennsylvania's future."
