FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Sen. Rafferty Presents $100,000 State Grant to New Brandywine CenterCOATESVILLE – Senator John C. Rafferty, Jr., R-44th, has presented a $100,000 check to the board of directors of the Brandywine Health Foundation for the new Brandywine Center. This extraordinary gift was pledged to cover some of the costs associated with equipment and furnishings in the new center located in the heart of Coatesville. "The Brandywine Health Foundation board is to be commended for their vision in providing a state of the art facility to meet the health care needs of the greater Coatesville area residents," Rafferty said, adding the state grant was spent on modern health equipment. Last spring, the Brandywine Center, located in the 700 block of Lincoln Highway, opened its doors to reach out to residents in need of primary care, dental and mental health services, who have had no comprehensive medical home – until now. The 48,000-square-foot, 4-story center provides 24 units of affordable housing to low income seniors as well. This is the first major development project in the City of Coatesville in more than three decades. "The foundation's board of directors is immensely grateful to Senator Rafferty for his efforts in securing a $100,000 grant from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to assist with the costs associated with furnishings and equipment for the new center," said Frances Sheehan, President and CEO of the Brandywine Health Foundation. "He has helped to make this project a reality for our community so that the foundation could help to improve the health of those living in the greater Coatesville area, meet some of the need for affordable housing in this affluent county, and aid in the economic development of the city of Coatesville," Sheehan added. The new Brandywine Center provides a full range of behavioral, dental and primary health services as well as affordable senior housing.
