FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Rafferty Named Guardian of Small BusinessSenator John Rafferty (R-44) has been named a "Guardian of Small Business" by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB). Rafferty was given the award for his voting record in the 2005-06 session of the General Assembly, which strongly supported small business growth. "It is an honor to receive this award," said Rafferty. "Protecting and developing small business in Pennsylvania has always been one of my top priorities. Small businesses are vital to the health of the state's economy, and they provide employment for a significant number of Commonwealth residents." The NFIB presents the Guardian of Small Business Award to Senators and Representatives nationwide who voted favorably on key small-business issues at least 75 percent of the time during the current session. Pennsylvania is home to more than 920,000 small businesses. Over 270,000 of these businesses have at least one employee or more. CONTACT: Mark Meyer
