Senator Rafferty Introduces Resolution for National Preparedness Month in Pennsylvania

Harrisburg – State Senator John Rafferty introduced a resolution yesterday that recognizes the month of September 2004 as "National Preparedness Month" in Pennsylvania. The Senate Resolution was approved by the entire Senate.

Along with the Department of Homeland Security, more than 80 organizations and the governments of all 50 states and the six American territories will encourage Americans to take simple steps to prepare themselves and their families for possible emergencies. The resolution also recognized that individual emergency preparedness is vitally important for the safety of all the citizens of this Commonwealth in the event of an emergency or terrorist attack.

Senator Rafferty also acknowledged all of the well prepared first responders who make individual sacrifices on a daily basis to assist others in their time of need.

Throughout the month of September, hundreds of activities are planned across the United States and the Commonwealth to highlight the importance of emergency preparedness.
